Thrive Rewards Explained

Thrive Rewards is EasyEquities' loyalty programme. It's how earning, holding and using EasyMoney (EM) works, from your everyday activity across EasyGroup through to what happens when it's locked. For your Thrive Level and the R25 monthly Thrive Fee, see Thrive Levels Explained instead.
NOTE: Thrive Rewards launches on 5 October 2026. If you already had an EasyMoney balance before then, start with "I had EasyMoney before 5 October, what happens to it now?" near the bottom of this page.

Getting Started

What is Thrive Rewards?

Thrive Rewards is EasyEquities' loyalty programme. As you invest, save, borrow and protect across EasyGroup, you earn EasyMoney (EM), our loyalty currency. Ten EM works out to about R1, so it's easy to picture what your rewards are worth in Rand. Your Thrive Level, from 0 to 10, is stamped at month-end and sets how much you earn on most products for that month.

Do I need to sign up for Thrive Rewards?

No. Every EasyEquities Account Holder is automatically a Thrive Rewards member. There's nothing to activate and nothing to opt out of. Some individual rules do vary by account type, the monthly Thrive Fee waiver being one, but membership itself doesn't.

Where do I find my Thrive Rewards Account, and how do I move EM out of it?

Your EasyMoney lives in its own Thrive Rewards Account, listed under Loyalty alongside your other EasyEquities accounts, with its own EE-number. If you haven't logged in recently, opening your wallet takes you to your portfolio page first, scroll down from there to find Thrive Rewards under Loyalty.

To actually use it, move EM into a participating account with Inter-account Transfer, found right on your Thrive Rewards page.

Is EasyMoney the same as ZARu?

No. ZARu is a separate blockchain-based stablecoin product, and EasyMoney only works within the EasyGroup ecosystem. The two aren't related or interchangeable.

What's the difference between my Thrive Level and earning EasyMoney?

Your Thrive Level (0 to 10) is a monthly score built from Thrive Activities like depositing, referring a friend or completing an EasyAcademy lecture. Once it's stamped at month end, that Level sets the rebate rate on what you did on most products that month, credited the following month, so a higher Level generally means bigger rebates.

Your Level is how well you did last month. EasyMoney is what that Level pays out.

Earning EasyMoney

How do I actually earn EasyMoney?

You don't need to apply for anything. Whenever you do one of the things below, EM is worked out after month end and credited to your Thrive Rewards Account within the first 10 business days of the following month.

EM isn't a discount at the till anymore. It's a rebate that lands the following month, then locks for 3 years.

Thrive Stocks

A straight 10% per Level, Level 5 is 50% off and Level 10 is 100% off, with every Level in between adding another 10%. This only applies to buying and selling on the EasyEquities Platform, not telephone trading, direct market access, or trading in Bundles or Baskets.

EasyETFs

The same 0 to 100% scale as Thrive Stocks, on the EasyEquities Platform, but only for the EasyETFs signature range of actively managed ETFs (AMETFs).

EasyCrypto

EasyCrypto runs the same 0 to 100% scale by Level, on the buying and selling of EasyCrypto Tokens.

EasyCredit

An active EasyCredit loan earns you a monthly rebate on the interest charged. This doesn't reduce what you owe on the loan itself, you keep paying the full amount, and the rebate comes back separately as EasyMoney:

  • Levels 0 to 2: 0%
  • Levels 3 to 5: 1%
  • Levels 6 to 8: 2%
  • Levels 9 to 10: 3%

EasyProtect

An active EasyProtect policy earns you a monthly rebate on the premium charged. Like EasyCredit, this doesn't change your premium itself, it comes back separately as EasyMoney:

  • Levels 0 to 2: 0%
  • Levels 3 to 4: 0.5%
  • Levels 5 to 7: 1%
  • Levels 8 to 9: 2%
  • Level 10: 3%

EasyProperties

Investing in an EasyProperties IPO within its first 9 days earns a once off rebate on the amount you invest:

  • Levels 0 to 2: 0%
  • Levels 3 to 6: 0.5%
  • Levels 7 to 10: 1%

EasyFX

Every EasyFX conversion earns a rebate on the conversion fee, rising in 2% steps for every Level, from 0% at Level 0 to 20% at Level 10. You'll still pay the standard EasyFX fee in full at the time of your conversion, then see your rebate reflect separately in your Thrive Rewards balance afterwards.

EasyMortgages

When your EasyMortgages loan is successfully registered with the bank and EasyMortgages has received its commission from the bank, you may earn a once-off reward of up to EM50,000 (R5,000), depending on the size of your bond, regardless of your Thrive Level. Like all your EasyMoney, it's locked for 3 years.

Does my Thrive Level affect every reward, or are some fixed?

Most rewards scale with your Level: Thrive Stocks, EasyETFs, EasyCrypto, EasyCredit, EasyProtect, EasyProperties and EasyFX all do. The Bring It All Home / RA transfer bonus is part fixed, part scaling, a flat 1% plus a Level-based bonus of up to 1% in EM. Two don't change with your Level at all: the EasyMortgages reward and Refer & Earn.

When does my EasyMoney actually land in my account?

EM is worked out after each month ends and credited to your Thrive Rewards Account within the first 10 business days of the following month. You can check your balance and a month by month breakdown by product on the EasyEquities Platform.

What do I get for referring a friend?

Referring pays out for both of you:

  • once they've made their first deposit (any amount), you earn a fixed EM500, regardless of your Thrive Level
  • they get R50 in their ZAR account, to start their own journey once their account is FICA verified. There's no cap on how many people you can refer.
Referral rewards are currently processed manually, so they can take a little longer to land than other EasyMoney rebates.

What's the Bring It All Home / RA transfer bonus?

If you transfer an existing investment portfolio, or a retirement annuity, preservation provident or preservation pension fund benefit, to EasyEquities under the Bring It All Home Campaign, you earn a flat reward of 1% of the value transferred, capped at EM500,000 (R50,000), plus an additional bonus of up to 1% in EM (based on your Thrive Level when the transfer completes) on top of that.

Locked EasyMoney (the Global Cash Lockup)

Can I withdraw my EasyMoney straight away?

No. Each month's EM allocation is locked for 3 years from the date it's credited, this is the Global Cash Lockup. Every allocation has its own lock, so your oldest EM unlocks first, automatically, with nothing for you to do. This is a different lock from the shorter ones applied to deposits, so if you're after those instead, see the link below.

What can I do with locked EasyMoney?

Plenty. The lock only stops you withdrawing the cash value off the platform.
First, move it from your Thrive Rewards Account into a participating account via EasyFX. From there, it can be used just like cash:

  • Use it to buy shares, ETFs or other investments
  • Use it to offset brokerage or other transactional costs

Converting EM to a foreign currency (USD, GBP, EUR or AUD) works exactly like any other EasyFX transfer, one request, nothing extra for you to do, and the standard EasyFX fee applies. Behind the scenes it's calculated in two parts: first to its Rand value, using the same 10 EM to R1 base you earn it at, then from Rand to that currency at the live exchange rate. For example, EM10,000 is worth R1,000. If the Rand is trading at R16.40 to the Dollar that day, that R1,000 converts to roughly $61, before the EasyFX fee.

Does the lock stop counting once I've spent or moved the EasyMoney?

No. Each allocation's 3 year lock keeps counting in full from the date it was credited, even after that EM has been spent or moved elsewhere. That's a permanent part of how the lock works, not something that changes based on what you do with the money.

Can I move my EasyMoney into EasyCrypto or EasyTrader?

Only unlocked EM can move into these two accounts, since they currently sit outside the Global Cash Lockup. Every other participating account can receive EM regardless of lock status.

What happens to my EasyMoney if I close my account?

If you close your account yourself, you'll likely need to wait for your EM to unlock before closure completes, the same waiting period that applies everywhere else. If we close your account, any EM you still have is forfeited.

If You Were Already Earning EasyMoney

I had EasyMoney before 1 October, what happens to it now?

It doesn't disappear, and it doesn't convert into your new Thrive Rewards balance either. It's renamed Brokerage Benefit, and keeps working the same way your old EasyMoney did, running down as you trade.

Why do I now see two different balances?

Because they're genuinely two different things. Brokerage Benefit is what's left of your old balance, winding down as before. Thrive EasyMoney is new, and builds up from here under the rules on this page, including the 3 year lock. The two run independently of each other.

Why aren't I seeing any rewards in October?

EasyMoney is only credited once a month's activities are complete, within the first 10 business days of the following month. October is the first month Thrive Rewards is live, so your first EM lands in the first 10 business days of November, not before.
