Can’t use EasyFX? Fund via SWIFT or your Offshore Bank Account.
If you have an offshore bank account in the currency you wish to invest in (USD, GBP, EUR or AUD), you can simply use the banking details and unique EFT reference found on the deposit page of the global account you wish to fund.
However, if funding directly from your bank account (depositing rands or other currencies besides USD, GBP, EUR or AUD) or you're unable to use EasyFX, you'll need to do an international SWIFT transfer.
Step-by-Step for SWIFT Deposits (USD, AUD, GBP, EUR)If you're funding global accounts from a bank outside that country, follow the steps below:
- Log in and tap My Funds
- Under Deposits, choose the global account you're funding (USD,** AUD,** GBP, or EUR)
- Select EFT as your method
- You'll now see SWIFT bank deposit instructions - including:
- Our Banking details
- SWIFT Code
- Account Number
- Beneficiary Reference (e.g. EE12345-123456)
- Be sure to copy these details exactly
- Log in to your international banking platform
- Select the forex/international payment option
- Initiate a SWIFT transfer, entering the details exactly as provided
- Paste your EasyEquities reference in the "Message" or "Payment reference" field
When your bank asks for the purpose of payment:
- Use "Investment" or "Portfolio Funding"
- If prompted for a BOP (Balance of Payments) category code, use 512/01(foreign investments - shares)
- Avoid using 512/07(foreign investments - other)
Unfortunately, while reasonably easy to do, deposits by Swift payments can be quite costly for South Africans, with most banks charging a minimum fee of between R180 - R250 + commission.
For this charge allocation, we recommend choosing OUR - this ensures all bank fees are added on top, and the full amount is deposited into your EasyEquities global account.
Using SHA (shared) may result in less ending up in your global account, as the fees are deducted from what you're depositing.
For the beneficiary address, use our physical address:
- WeWork - Coworking Office Space, 173 Oxford Rd, Rosebank, Johannesburg, 2196
If they need it, you'll find the address of the receiving bank on the deposit page of the currency you're depositing into.
Make sure you’re selecting the correct currency and SWIFT code for the account you’re funding.
Important Note: We recommend confirming all charges with your bank before sending a SWIFT payment, as fees vary.
How Long Before I'll Receive my SWIFT Deposit?SWIFT deposits can take at least 3–5 business days to reflect, depending on your bank.
Are There Fees When Funding via SWIFT?- EasyEquities doesn’t charge a fee to receive your funds
- But your sending bank and our receiving bank may both charge fees
- We are only able to process a minimum deposit of R150
- Confirm charges with your bank before sending funds, as these are outside of our control
When Depositing via SWIFT, Don’t Forget:- Each global account has a unique reference - copy it carefully
- If you need to activate a global account, go to: Menu → Account Management → Add and Manage Accounts → Activate New Account
