Depositing & Withdrawing Funds: CMA (eSwatini, Namibia, Lesotho)

Why the Change in Deposits and Withdrawals for CMA Clients?

In response to regulatory updates within the Common Monetary Area (CMA)—which includes South Africa, Lesotho, Namibia, and eSwatini—deposit and withdrawal transactions for CMA clients must be handled as cross-border forex transactions rather than normal EFTs.

This shift is driven by enhanced anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF) requirements, ensuring greater transparency, security, and compliance with international financial standards. While this adjustment may add a few steps, it helps safeguard client funds and maintain regulatory alignment across borders, providing a safer and more robust investment environment.

Are there any fees associated with deposits?

EasyEquities does not charge a fee to process your deposit.
Unfortunately, both the sending and receiving bank will charge a fee to process the forex transaction, and so the minimum deposit amount we can process is R150.
We recommend inquiring with your bank to confirm what the charges will be.

How long does it take for deposits to reflect?

Deposits may take between 3 to 5 business days to clear. Processing time depends on banking practices and internal clearing processes.

Withdrawals

How are withdrawals processed for CMA accounts?

Similar to deposits, withdrawals are now processed as forex transactions.

Are there specific timelines for processing withdrawals?

General client withdrawals are processed in daily cross-border batches if requested before 2 pm. Once we have released your funds, it could take between 3 and 5 business days for the funds to clear in your account. (This will be dependent on your bank.)

Are there any withdrawal fees?

As with deposits, EasyEquities does not charge a fee to process your withdrawal.
Unfortunately, both the sending and receiving bank will charge a fee to process the forex transaction, and so the minimum withdrawal amount we can process is R150.
We recommend inquiring with your bank to confirm what the charges will be.
