Your EC Bundle is moving into a new format called an EasyCrypto Token.
The Token reflects the same group of crypto assets your bundle held.
Your exposure stays the same, and nothing about how your value moves with the market is being changed - only the format you see it in.
Tokens are becoming a familiar and widely used way to package groups of crypto assets globally. They make it easier to keep the product aligned with its rule set, update the mix when needed, and present pricing clearly.
For you, it means:
same exposure, clearer wrapper, lower ongoing fee.
These changes don’t affect how the value moves with the market.
No.
When your bundle converts, your Token will hold the same market value your bundle had at that moment. Nothing restarts or resets.
And you’ll still see one clear Token price that reflects all the assets inside it.
The current management fee becomes an administration fee, and the level drops by 25% to 1.5% + VAT.
No new fees are being introduced.
You’ll have a 30 business day window with three straightforward options:
Option 1: Do nothing (default)
Your EC Bundle will move into the new Token once the window closes.
Option 2: Sell the bundle
If you’d prefer to exit the product, you can sell your holding during the window.
Option 3: Receive the underlying crypto assets
If you’ve got more than R20 in your bundle and would rather hold the individual coins, you can choose to receive them into your EasyCrypto account instead of moving into the Token.
If you choose Option 3 and currently only hold a crypto bundle in your ZAR account on EasyEquities, you’ll need to activate your EasyCrypto account to receive your crypto assets. Find out more about how to do that here.
You’ll see these options clearly explained in our communications to you.
Any EC bundle purchases made after 15 December 2025 will automatically be converted to tokens by 28 February 2026.
An EasyCrypto Token is a blockchain-based token that represents a group of crypto assets.
Just like the EasyCrypto Bundles, each Token reflects the same underlying mix of assets and how they move in the market.
The difference is in how it’s shown: the Token brings that exposure together into one clear price and updated fee structure, while your underlying market exposure stays the same.
No.
Like the bundle, the Token gives you exposure to the combined value of the group, not direct legal ownership of each individual coin.
If you want to hold the individual crypto assets in your EasyCrypto account, choose Option 3 during the conversion window.
The Token price reflects:
- how much of each crypto asset it represents
- the current market price of those assets
- pricing information from selected global and local crypto exchanges
Everything is shown as one clear Token price - there’s nothing you need to calculate.
Yes.
Crypto assets are treated as financial products in South Africa, and EasyEquities is licensed to provide financial services in crypto assets under the FAIS framework.
This sets standards for how the product is offered and overseen - it doesn’t remove market risk or guarantee returns.
Yes.
Tokens include a built-in safeguard through a separate, ring-fenced company (an SPV).
It exists to support client claims if EasyEquities ever faced insolvency.
It’s an added safeguard for insolvency scenarios only - it doesn’t change how your market value moves day to day.
The current bundle’s mandate (the rules that govern how it’s managed) will end on 15 of January 2025.
You’ll have until the 30 January 2026 to let us know which option you’d like to take.
Bundles will automatically be converted to tokens by 28 February 2026, unless you select one of the other options.
After conversion:
- the EC Bundle name will fall away
- the Token name will appear in its place
- your total value and exposure will remain the same
The look changes, not the investment.
Yes.
You can continue to buy or sell the Token in the usual way.
If you want to hold the individual crypto assets, that choice must be made by 30 January 2026.
